The award also recognizes coverage of issues with balance and perspective, scientific accuracy, broad audience reach, and creativity in presentation. 2004 National Health Information Award for Thin for Life which was chosen from among more than 1,110 entries by a national panel of experts. These awards recognize "the nation's best consumer health information programs and materials." 2003 The Research Society on Alcoholism (RSA) Journalism Award for her book, Sober for Good: New Solutions for Drinking Problems—Advice From Those Who Have Succeeded. This award is for work that has a major impact on public knowledge, is scientifically accurate, shows dedication to the cause, and has journalistic quality. 2003 Outstanding Contributions to Advancing the Understanding of Addictions Award from the American Psychological Association's Division 50. This award is given for outstanding media portrayal, contribution to key legislation, or other contributions that have been made to advancing the understanding of the addictions. 2002 "Distinguished Friend to Behavior Therapy Award," given by the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT). This award goes to individuals or organizations who have been dedicated to heightening the lay public's awareness and appreciation of cognitive-behavioral treatment approaches for problems such as addictions and obesity. 2002 National Health Information Award for Sober for Good in the "patient education information" category.
